What Are Maintenance Subscriptions?

Computers are like cars. You have to do a certain amount of maintenance on your computer for the machine to work well. Eventually, old parts will break and need replacement. There are a lot of things to maintain: the computer hardware itself; all versions of Microsoft Windows and Linux often requires updates; many programs need patches from the different vendors over time; virus definitions need frequent updates. Sometimes you have new software versions to install. The latest browser might have features you want. All this updating can soak up lots of your time. That is where buying a maintenance subscription from me makes sense. For one low monthly fee, I'll do diagnostic checkups on your hardware as needed and advise you if I think parts within your computer system needs replacing. I'll keep your Windows, Linux or other Unix operating system software up to date, make sure your virus definitions are current, and find the right patches for all your current programs. Never waste time searching for patches again! I keep lists of the most common patches that are needed, know where to download them from and when a download is needed. I will also provide a certain number of troubleshooting support incidents per month depending on the subscription plan. So if your system crashes unexpectedly, you can just call me for no-fuss help. When you decide to buy a replacement computer system, I'll help you decide what to buy and I'll set up one new system every 2 years for you.

This plan places additional one-time costs on the customer over and above the monthly cost to cover acquisition of a backup device and backup media. SILVER-HWThis plan is for customers who need frequent hardware replacement or hardware upgrades. Includes all the monthly services in the BASIC, BRONZE, and PEWTER plans, plus: installation of up to 2 major hardware devices per month for up to 3 computers. Such device installation can represent either emergency part replacements (for example, replacement of a crashed hard drive) or planned hardware upgrades (for example, a camera or additional memory is needed for a computer but it can be installed at a time most convenient to you.) All hardware and software costs for this plan will be paid for by the customer in addition to the monthly plan cost.50.00

  2. To join a maintenance subscription plan, an initial onsite evaluation of the computer(s) is required. At that time your computer systems will be examined. Computers needing 4 hours or more of initial maintenance work will incur additional one-time charge of $100.00.
  3. Payment terms: New subscribers are charged for the first 6 months of the desired plan at the time subscription is purchased. Cash, money orders or personal checks are accepted.
  4. Sometimes, computer support can be provided remotely (the technician connects to your computer and provides support over the internet rather than appearing onsite.) This can be an extremely convenient option when available. Remote support options require an advance signed authorization from the customer. Ask for further details if you are interested in this.
